In the second set, the competition intensified. Both players were forced to engage in long rallies, pushing their physical limits. However, Djokovic's serve-and-volley tactics proved successful, helping him clinch the set 7-6 (5). Medvedev had a chance to level the match on set point, but unfortunately fell behind two sets instead.

The third set was a decisive moment in the match. Djokovic, one set away from his 24th Grand Slam title, played with determination and precision. Despite Medvedev's best efforts, Djokovic secured the set 6-3, sealing his victory in the US Open 2023 final.

Djokovic finished the match in three hours and 16 minutes to claim his 24th Grand Slam title.

This win was more than just another title for Djokovic. It marked his fourth victory in 10 Flushing Meadows finals and equaled Margaret Court’s record Grand Slam haul. Furthermore, it capped another remarkable Grand Slam campaign for Djokovic, who also claimed victories at the Australian, French, and US Opens in 2023.

With the win on Sunday, Djokovic has now become the oldest Grand Slam singles champion in the Open Era. Ahead of the trophy presentation, Djokovic would then proceed to pay a tribute to Bryant, who had tragically passed away in 2020.

The Serbian wore a t-shirt that had an image of him with the LA Lakers legend and the message 'Mamba Forever' written on it.

Djokovic has also tied Margaret Court for the most Grand Slam singles titles in history.
