India will be world’s third largest economy in 4 years: IMF chief economist

In an exclusive interview with India Today, International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief economist Gita Gopinath said that India will be the world’s third-largest economy by 2027-28.

Speaking about the Indian economy and its performance in the global level, Gopinath said that India will contribute 15 per cent of global growth this year and that it will be a key driver of economic growth in the years to come.

Addressing India's focus on prioritising the regulation of crypto assets, Gita Gopinath also speaks about the IMF's role in putting together an architecture that will help regulating crypto assets in the global economy. .
