Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy has criticised All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi for supporting Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR). He said Owaisi was supporting "thieves, who looted the state".

“I urge Muslim brothers to understand that if a person is working for his or her own party it is understandable, but he (Asaduddin Owaisi) is supporting thieves who looted Telangana,” he said.

Alleging that BRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (also known as KCR) was an "apprentice" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, he said, “You are repeatedly requesting people to support KCR and make him victorious. Why make him win? Is it because he supported Modi in Parliament during the Triple Talaq bill, Article 370, Presidential and Vice-Presidential elections, demonetisation, and the Goods and Services Tax bill?”

“We (Congress ) have given metro rail in Hyderabad. Asad Bhai, are you asking people to support KCR for stopping the metro rail project in the old city? Here, it was BRS’s vehicle. In Delhi, it changed to ‘Lotus’. KCR is an apprentice to Modi. Why are you being apprenticed to KCR here?” he asked.

Reddy, who was speaking at a rally in Hyderabad to mark the one-year anniversary of the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, also lashed out at the AIMIM chief for his 'Hyderabad Hamara hai' remark.

“There is another Nizam in Hyderabad, who claims 'Hyderabad Hamara Hai (this City belongs to them). You are not a native of Hyderabad but of Sholapur in Maharashtra. Now the Congress party workers will not spare you. This time we'll see whom this city belongs to. You are supporting 'thieves'. I tell you to stop supporting them,” he said.

Telangana is scheduled to go to the polls by the end of this year. The state has a total of 119 seats. The schedule for the Assembly elections is yet to be announced by the Election Commission.
