Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara was arrested at the Venice Film Festival on alleged sexual assault charges, reports Variety. He is popular for the Spanish Amazon Prime teen film franchise 'My Fault, Culpa Mia'. The fest confirmed the news specifying that the teen idol was not arrested for anything related to the event. As per Hollywood Reporter, Gabriel had an active international warrant out on him for an alleged sexual assault in France.

Guevara, 22, was meant to receive an award called the Filming Italy prize on the sidelines of the festival. The arrest took place on the Lido on Saturday, September 2, reports Variety. According to The Post Internazionale, Venice police confirmed Gabriel's arrest. Reportedly, the actor was due to attend a press conference and awards ceremony at the film festival.

Gabriel is also known for starring in 'How to Screw it All Up' (2022) and 'You’re Nothing Special'. The actor is currently in protective custody.

On Sunday, September 2, the Venice Film Festival issued the following statement, “Following the news articles which have been emerging on various websites, regarding the Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara being arrested in Venice, the Biennale hereby clarifies that his presence in Venice was not linked to any events or productions related to the 80th Venice International Film Festival.​”

Guevara made his debut on the Spanish adaptation of Nordic teen series, 'Skam'. He then starred in Paramount+ series 'Bose'.
