Slamming DMK’s Udhayanidhi Stalin for his remarks on Sanatana Dharma, Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said the comments are “highly mischievous and ignorant”. “He is claiming discrimination under the Sanatana dharma and asking to demolish it. If he talks about equality, why are they discriminating against Hindus? His father MK Stalin does not wish people for Hindu festivals. He is just highly ignorant. How can he abolish the religion, when majority population is following the Sanatana dharma?” the governor said.
Priyank Kharge, a Karnataka Minister and son of Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge, on Monday supported Udhayanidhi’s stance on the Sanatana Dharma that recently sparked a political row. “Any religion that does not promote equality, does not ensure that you have the dignity of being a human being is not a religion according to me. Any religion that does not treat you like a human is not a religion according to me. So it’s as good as a disease,” Priyank Kharge said. Before him, Mallikarjuna Kharge and KC Venugopal also backed Udhayanidhi, asserting that the statement was aimed at caste discrimination.
