‘Jawan’ released in theatres all across the world on September 7. The film, which is Shah Rukh Khan’s second film of the year, features him in a double role. The film screams ‘massy’, but what it also had was Shah Rukh Khan going out and loud with his political commentary.

SHAH RUKH KHAN’S POLITICAL COMMENTARY IN ‘JAWAN’

Shah Rukh Khan is no-holds-barred in ‘Jawan’ when it comes to political commentary. For an actor who has stayed away from anything to do with opinion on governance or social commentary, SRK goes all out in ‘Jawan’.

There is a two-minute long monologue in the film where SRK speaks about the importance of voting and how electing the right candidate who holds no prejudices towards caste, religion or race is so crucial.

Pointing a finger to the audience, SRK almost stares into your soul with this moving speech. It also feels like his most personal moment in an otherwise over the top and larger-than-life film. ‘Jawan’ is heavy on political commentary with the subject of EVM, corruption, farmer suicides taking centre stage in the middle of colourful songs and well-choreographed action set pieces.

SRK wants you to know that he has an opinion and he’s not mincing his words anymore.
