Congress and BJP cross swords over Nehru Memorial renaming | Here's what they say

The Congress and the BJP crossed swords on Wednesday over the renaming of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, with the opposition party accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "distorting and destroying" the Nehruvian legacy. On today’s episode of News Track, India Today’s Rahul Kanwal talks to panellists BJP MP Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi, Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta, Author Harsh Gupta Madhusudhan and Former Rajya Sabha MP Pavan Kumar Varma. While Trivedi argued a revamping of the museum is the need of the 21st century, Gupta said the move reflects BJP’s anti-Nehru mindset. “We won’t change things named after Atal Bihari Vajpayee because we respect him. It’s a mindset problem with the BJP,” Gupta said. Madhusudhan, asserting that he has been a part of the museum, said the renaming is no way disrespectful to any prime minister. Varma asserted that the name of the library should have been retained as it is dedicated to Nehru. The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) has officially been renamed as the Prime Ministers' Museum and Library Society with effect from August 14.
