Nagpur

Nagpur is a city in the state of Maharashtra, India. It is situated almost at the geographical centre of the country.

The city was founded in the early 18th century by Bakht Buland, who was a Gond Raja. After Independence, Nagpur was the capital of the state of Madhya Pradesh for a brief period. In 1960, it became a part of Maharashtra.

The place is famous for oranges and is sometimes called the 'Orange City'. Nagpur is also called the Tiger Capital of India as many tiger reserves are located in and around the city. The city experiences a tropical savannah climate with dry conditions prevailing for most part of the year. Marathi is the most spoken and official language of Nagpur. Hindi and Varhadi are also spoken in the area.

It is considered a major commercial and political center of the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. It is the 13th largest city by population in India. Nagpur is projected to be the 5th fastest growing city in the world from 2019 to 2035.

The city houses Maharajbagh zoo, several lakes like Khindsi and Futala Lake and also various gardens like Satpuda Botanical Garden, Japanese Garden etc.

Union Minister and BJP leader Nitin Gadkari celebrated the festival of Janmashtami by marking his presence at a 'Dahi handi' event in Maharashtra's Nagpur. A grand 'Dahi handi' event was organized by the local authorities in Nagpur on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrated across the country on Thursday. Speaking about the possible reasons for such deaths, Sangar said, “Stress and fatigue are silent killers. Everyone has a different threshold, so we cannot set a common bar for everyone.” He further said that the schedules for pilots have been stressful after the pandemic, but most companies allow their pilots to say no to flying. “It also sometimes has to do with the pride and ego of the pilots who think they can take the pressure. In a span of two days, India witnessed the deaths of two pilots. AN IndiGo captain lost consciousness at a Nagpur boarding gate on Thursday, while a day prior, a Qatar Airways pilot experienced a heart attack while onboard a flight. The IndiGo captain was slated to operate a flight connecting Nagpur and Pune. He collapsed as he reached the boarding gate in Nagpur. Despite medical attention, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. According to sources, the captain had undertaken a demanding schedule the previous day, flying from Trivandrum to Nagpur via Pune in two separate segments from 3 am to 7 am. Following a mere 27 hours of rest, he was scheduled for four flights on the day of his demise. Meanwhile, the Qatar Airways pilot, who had previously been associated with SpiceJet, Alliance Air, and Sahara, was traveling as an additional crew member on a Delhi-Doha flight. He suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away during the journey. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has officially verified both fatalities.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the kin of the 26 deceased in horrific bus accident on Samruddhi Mahamarg in Buldhana. He further said that the government will mull over safety measures on the newly-launched highway as several accidents have been reported recently. Twenty five bus passengers were charred to death after the vehicle caught fire on the Samruddhi Expressway. The private travels bus was on way from Nagpur to Pune when it rammed into a divider around 1.30 am near Sindkhedraja in Buldhana district.

Twenty five bus passengers were charred to death after the vehicle caught fire on the Samruddhi Expressway in Maharashtra’s Buldhana district on Saturday, police said. The private travels bus was on way from Nagpur to Pune when it rammed into a divider around 1.30 am near Sindkhedraja in Buldhana district, police said. Buldhana SP Sunil Kadasne told PTI that as per preliminary information, a bus tyre burst and the vehicle hit a pole, collided with a divider, and caught fire.
