Of course, by no means, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2R are as well equipped as the flagship OnePlus Buds Pro 2, but keeping in mind that these are priced at just Rs 2,199, these earbuds hold a lot of promise. And in case you are considering purchasing the OnePlus Nord Buds 2, I’d say — for under Rs 3,000, the OnePlus 2r with its good affordable pricing makes up for a better overall option. Here are 3 reasons to buy the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r for under Rs 3,000.

OnePlus Nord Buds 2r: 3 reasons to buy

— Solid audio performance on a budget

The OnePlus Nord Buds 2r is a trimmed-down version of the OnePlus Nord Buds 2, but, in terms of the actual difference between both the Nord Buds — it is ANC. And while the Nord Buds 2 does give you ANC on a budget TWS earbuds, the performance itself is subpar at best. So, if you prefer the good sound quality of the Nord Buds 2 at a significantly lower budget, i.e. for Rs 800 less, I’d say — the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r makes a lot of sense.

As for the audio performance, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r is surely going to appeal to you if you are a bass head. Now, between the 3 available modes — Balanced, Bass and Bold, my preferred choice was the Bold setting. You see, while the balanced output gives you a very “balanced” sound when it comes to the mids and highs, the only thing that separates the bass setting from the balanced one, is that the bass mode was too overwhelming for my ears when it came to the low-pitch tones and the thumps. So much so, that I found listening to tracks in the bass mode uncomfortable for my liking. But, then comes the Bold mode, which strikes the perfect balance. I mean, if you are someone who likes punchy mids, aggressive highs along with just the right amount of bass, this is the mode you are going to like. Overall, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r should be an excellent pick for anyone who wants to experience good sound quality without spending big bucks.

— Lightweight, sturdy and comfortable

The OnePlus Nord Buds 2R are remarkably lightweight earbuds that excel in both style and comfort. There are two colours on offer — Triple Blue and the one I have with me, Deep Grey. Boasting a plastic build that strikes a balance between durability and weight, the earbuds are not only lightweight in nature but they also ensure a comfortable fit that allows for extended listening sessions without any discomfort or fatigue. The earbuds feature tap controls. You also get silicone tips for a secure fit and for passive noise isolation.

As for the case, it is also built out of plastic. You’re also getting an IP55 rating here for the added protection, so that’s great. And, one of the standout features of the case is the hinge. It is sturdy and reliable, which also shows the good build quality of the earbuds. And despite fidgeting with the case, opening and closing it, there’s this sense of reassurance and confidence that okay — in terms of build, they will survive the test of time. Otherwise, aesthetically, the Nord Buds 2R sport a minimalist design. They are light, compact and ergonomic, which only enhances their usability.

— Affordability

There’s no doubt that the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r with its Rs 2,199 is quite affordable. In fact, it is so good that it makes the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 look expensive in contrast. You see, when it comes to the drivers, the choice of materials for the build, charging speeds, sound quality, battery size, connectivity and everything else there is — the OnePlus Nord Buds 2 and OnePlus Nord Buds 2r are practically the same. And in case if you do purchase the Nord Buds 2 over the Nord Buds 2r, do note, you will only be paying the extra Rs 800 for the ANC functionality. Because again, while the Nord Buds 2 does get ANC, the quality and its implementation are not all that great. And so, for Rs 2,199, still with decent passive noise isolation and AI noise cancellation for calls, the OnePlus Nord Buds 2r offers a great price-to-performance ratio.
