In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, the K-pop soloist spoke about his recently released album ‘Bounce,’ his process of making it, acting as a writer and singer, and working on ‘King The Land’ OST. He also spoke about his impending India tour.

Speaking of his new album, Woojin told IndiaToday.in, “My current album is about coming-of-age. It is filled with positive emotions and hope.”

FROM 'MINOR' TO 'BOUNCE'

Woojin also opened up about his exciting journey from his first album to his second. He said, "The albums chronologically trace my experiences since childhood. There’s a certain flow and storyline to the way the album has been released.”

Mentioning that it took nearly three to four months to prepare this album, Woojin shared that working on the title song ‘On My Way’ was a challenging one. He explained, “There isn't a particular song that was difficult. But, if I were to choose among the songs, it could be the title song because it is kind of a different genre. It's a rock song and because of that, it felt like stepping into another territory. So that was a little bit challenging.”

ABOUT HIS SOFT VOCALS AND WRITING FOR KING THE LAND OST

Known for his soft vocals, Woojin asserted, “I have always been interested in songs that require the use of soft vocals and hence I practiced it a lot, which helped me build onto my skills.”

Woojin also participated in Lee Junho and YoonA’s ‘King The Land’ OST titled ‘DIVE’. When asked if the process is different for him when he writes for someone else, Woojin mentioned, “When you compose for others, it is difficult because we have to put the thinking cap on from their perspective. I have a lot of things to think about, not just the lyrics, but how it will sync with the people featured in it. It's a lot of thought. It's not easy.”

He added, “It’s definitely different because when I write a song for my album, it is my experience I am talking about and present it in the way I want to express it. But, when I write for a drama, I have to consider the construct of the drama and have that in mind throughout.

Woojin mentioned that he likes to challenge himself and doesn’t want to limit himself to any particular genre or mainstream work.

Since ‘Bounce’ speaks about dreams, when asked Woojin his next big dream, he mentioned, “Another big dream of mine is to perform at a very larger venue, where a lot of CUBS (fandom name) can attend and where I can connect with them.”

INDIA TOUR

Finally, divulging details about his October tour, Woojin shared, “I'm preparing a lot of performances for the Indian fans. I'll be performing all these songs from my new album as well for Indian CUBS. His India tour ‘The Moment’ is being organised by Pink Box Entertainment.
