It was recently being rumoured that Hollywood legend Johnny Depp and 'Wednesday' actress Jenna Ortega are dating. Speculation about the pair being in a relationship started doing the rounds when a gossip account, Deuxmoi, inaccurately reported that Depp and Ortega had been seen together on a date. The site also reported that the pair could possibly be working on 'Beetlejuice 2' together. While the actress is just 20 years old, Depp is 60. Ortega, who is 40 years Depp’s junior, has now addressed the nasty rumours. She called them 'ridiculous'.
JENNA ORTEGA REACTS TO DATING RUMOURS WITH JOHNNY DEPP
Jenna Ortega set the record straight about whether she is in a relationship with the 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' actor. 'This is so ridiculous I can't even laugh,' Ortega wrote on her Instagram Story. "I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone (sic)."
In 2022, Jenna Ortega gained international fame after starring as Wednesday Addams in the Netflix horror comedy series 'Wednesday'. She received nominations at the Golden Globe, Primetime Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance.
DEPP'S REP REACTS TO THE RUMOURS
Johnny Depp also denied the rumours in a statement issued through a representative. It read, "Mr Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her."
The statement added: “He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumours that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”
Depp has been making headlines ever since his famous defamation case against ex-wife Amber Heard. He eventually won the lawsuit he had filed against his ex-wife Amber for defaming him in a 2018 Washington Post article, where she called herself a survivor of domestic abuse.
In 2016, Heard filed for divorce and alleged that Depp had physically abused her during their marriage under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusations and stated that Heard was "attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse." Their divorce was finalised in 2017. Johnny Depp later sued Amber Heard for defamation because of an op-ed she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. In the op-ed, headlined “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change,” Heard claimed that she was a domestic abuse survivor. However, she did not name Depp.
