'Jawan' box office collection Day 1: SRK's film opens to Rs 129 crore worldwide

After a long wait, Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Jawan' finally hit theatres on September 7. As expected, the film did massive business at the box office on Day 1. It is definitely a blockbuster as 'Jawan' created history on its opening day. According to trade reports, the SRK-starrer minted a whopping Rs 74.50 crore in India. At the worldwide box office, the film collected Rs 129.06 crore. 'Jawan' is now the biggest opener in Bollywood of all time.

'JAWAN' BOX OFFICE COLLECTION

‘Jawan’ is already touted to be a box office winner. On Day 1, 'Jawan' earned Rs 74.50 across all languages in India, according to trade reports. The film saw an overall occupancy of 58.67 per cent in the Hindi version on Thursday. Chennai witnessed the highest occupancy with 81 per cent.

SRK's manager Pooja Dadlani dropped the final worldwide figures of Day 1. The film went on to become the biggest opening day in history of Hindi cinema by minting Rs 129.06 crore, globally, right on the first day!

'Jawan' also grossed AUD 400,000 on Thursday in Australia. Hence, it has become the first Indian film to top the Australian box office. Meanwhile, in New Zealand, the film debuted at number 1 too with NZ$ 79,805 (Rs 39.13 lakh). In Germany, 'Jawan' debuted at number 3 spot with Rs 1.30 crore. The film is also off to a flying start in North America, UK and Canada.

Meanwhile, Gautam Dutta, Co-CEO, PVR INOX Limited, said, “The love and response of audiences on the first day of the release of ‘Jawan’ is overwhelming and sensational, and proves the significance and might of mass entertainers in the film industry. The Janmashtami holiday provided an additional thrust across the country. The action-packed spectacle has a truly national appeal with popular stars from the South, including Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, along with an eclectic ensemble of stars, which is making the movie cater to a larger market with its Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions. With the movie also being screened in special formats like IMAX, 4DX and ICE, audiences are enjoying the larger-than-life story telling in a more experiential manner."

He added, "The film has released at a time when the industry is seeing its glorious days with consumers going out to cinemas in huge numbers. If the unprecedented audience response is anything to go by, we are confident that Jawan would not only be the biggest film of this year, but would end up adding immense strength to the cinema ecosystem.”

ABOUT 'JAWAN'

'Jawan' released worldwide in theatres on September 7, 2023, in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Directed by Atlee, it stars Shah Rukh Khan along with Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani. Deepika Padukone is seen in an extended cameo.

The film is touted to be a commercial entertainer and features SRK in a double role - an intelligence officer and a thief. The film was shot across Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Rajasthan and Aurangabad. Anirudh Ravichander composed for the film, and made his debut as a solo composer in Bollywood.
