West wants to ‘castrate’ G20, says China on US’s ‘spoiler’ charge
Days after the US called on China to set aside its issues with India and not to “play the role of a spoiler” ahead of the G20 summit in Delhi, Beijing has hit back by accusing Washington and the West as a whole of pushing their own agenda and “wanting to tear the G20 apart”. In an editorial piece in its mouthpiece Global Times, China claimed that the West is fixated on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and not “economic recovery and multilateral diplomacy”, which India, as G20 Chair, wants to focus on. “The US and the West, which often claim they ‘stand with India’, have made great efforts to hype the ‘differences’ between the participating countries of the G20 summit,” it said.
