Six people were killed in a road accident in Tamil Nadu's Salem in the wee hours of Wednesday. The accident occurred at nearly 4 am on the Salem-Erode highway in Tamil Nadu when a speeding van rammed a stationary lorry. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking the agenda of the special Parliament session scheduled for September 18-22. She also listed nine issues and urged the Prime Minister to allow time for discussion on them in the upcoming session. "You have convened a special five-day session of the Parliament beginning 18 September, 2023. I must point out that this Special Session has been convened without any consultation with other political parties. None of us have any idea of its agenda," the Congress leader said.

An FIR was registered in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur against DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's son Priyank Kharge for allegedly outraging religious feelings, police said on Wednesday. Stalin was booked for his call to eradicate Sanatan Dharma and Kharge for backing his remark, they said. The two were booked under sections 295 A (deliberate and malicious acts to outrage religious feelings) and 153 A (promoting enmity between different religious groups) of the IPC at Civil Lines Police Station in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur on Tuesday.
