G20 Summit: A look at who wore what to gala dinner

As President Droupadi Murmu hosted a G20 Gala Dinner at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 9, several global leaders and politicians arrived in style at the venue.

Host Droupadi Murmu proclaimed her affinity for the six yards of elegance and wore a traditional beige saree with a contrasting turquoise border which was further punctuated with vibrant floral patterns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the other hand, changed from a black bandhgala jacket to a rather relaxed V-neck striped jacket for the dinner.

Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, exuded ethnic charm in a graceful lilac saree teamed with a pearl necklace.

Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and his wife Kobita Jugnauth arrived at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi in traditional outfits. Kumar Jugnauth turned up in a black bandhgala-inspired ensemble, his wife exuded six yards of elegance in a saree with a dazzling blouse.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty looked splendid in their attire as well at the gala dinner. While Rishi Sunak wore a crisp black suit with a maroon tie, Akshata's outfit showcased her penchant for traditional and modern appeal with a multi-hued dress that boasted of ethnic motifs.

While Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida wore a black suit with a royal blue tie, his wife Yuko Kishida arrived at the gala in a saree. Her green drape had golden details with a pink satin blouse.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wore a grey suit to the gala dinner and his partner Jodie Haydon wore a blue dress with turtleneck detailing.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife Iriana Joko Widodo, too, arrived in style. While Joko Widodo wore a navy blue suit, Joko Widodo opted for a traditional white outfit.

President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeol wore a black suit with a golden tie.

French President Emmanuel Macron looked as handsome as ever in a sharp black suit.

Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni arrived at the gala dinner in a stunning black kurta set with a mauve stole.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who wore a light-hued dress, was photographed at the formal dinner with her husband Heiko von der Leyen.

At the G20 Dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, an ensemble of 50-60 artists will play Indian music. The guests will be served a three-course meal. The menu is expected to include several millet-based dishes.
