Facelifted Hyundai i20 hatchback launched, prices start at Rs 6.99 lakh

The popular premium hatchback has been launched in India after making its European debut a few months ago.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has launched the new 2023 i20 hatchback. This is a facelift of the popular hatchback which was introduced for the European market a few months ago. Prices start at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 11.01 lakh.

The 2023 Hyundai i20 comes with a new front fascia, with a new grille and altered headlamps, with new inverted L-shaped LED DRLs. The bumpers at the front and rear have also been reworked, while the car sits on new 16-inch alloy wheels. The bonnet now houses the new Hyundai logo instead of the grille, just like on the Hyundai Verna. Customers can choose from multiple colour options including the new Amazon Grey colour.

The cabin layout has not been altered but comes with a gray and black theme. Features include the Bose speaker system, ambient lights, ambient sounds, a sunroof and more premium additions such as leatherette seats, door armrests and flat-bottom steering. I continues with the infotainment and instrument displays.

Inside, the 2023 Hyundai i20 comes equipped with a grey and black theme, Bose-sourced seven-speaker music system, semi-leatherette seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, leatherette seats and door armrests, and the signature ambient sounds of nature feature. In terms of safety, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, HAC, VSM, and rear parking sensors as standard. Also equipped in the package is rear parking camera, TPMS, headlamp escort function, automatic headlamps and more.

Hyundai offers 26 safety features as standard in the i20. This includes 6 airbags, ESC, HAC, VSM, ABS and EBD to name a few. Additionally, the car comes with seatbelt reminders for all seats.

Powering the Hyundai i20 is a familiar 1.2-litre four-cylinder NA petrol motor mated to a 5-speed manual or an IVT. This motor produces 83bhp and 114.7Nm of torque, and comes with an integrated starter generator. This is the only engine being offered with the new i20, with no turbo-petrol on offer as earlier.
