Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander hops on the Moon, exceeds mission objectives

The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) on Monday announced that the Vikram Lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission has exceeded its mission objectives by successfully conducting a hop experiment on the lunar surface. The lander fired its engines on command, elevated itself by approximately 40 cm, and landed safely at a distance of 30 to 40 cm away. Isro also shared a video on social media of the lunar mission, along with the news.

Delhi set to host G20 Summit with preparations in full swing

Preparations for the G20 Summit to be held in Delhi on September 8 and 9 are in full swing, with the central as well as Delhi authorities busy with the preparations. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and the prime minister's Principal Secretary P K Mishra on Sunday visited key sites related to the upcoming G20 Summit meeting to take stock of preparedness for the mega event. They were accompanied by other senior government functionaries. Meanwhile, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Sunday said that the Delhi civic body identified and cleaned more than 11,000 vulnerable garbage points and is conducting anti-larval spraying in all wards ahead of the G20 Summit. Kapil Wadhawan shifted to Nashik jail over fake medical visits

One of the Wadhawan brothers, arrested in 2020 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with multi-crore alleged fraud cases, was shifted to Nashik jail after reports of his "misconduct'' and "privileges" during multiple hospital visits were reported by India Today. Kapil Wadhawan, an accused in a case related to an alleged scam at Yes Bank, was transferred to Nashik Jail on orders from a special court in Mumbai. The move came after India Today reported how Wadhawan brothers were getting VVIP treatment on their hospital visits on the pretext of medical treatment.

Biden says he's disappointed at Jinping's absence from G20 summit

US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that he was disappointed that Chinese President Xi Jinping would not be attending the G20 summit  in India, but added that he was going to "get to see him." "I am disappointed ... but I am going to get to see him," Biden told reporters in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, without elaborating further on the details of his likely meeting with the Chinese president. Biden will be in India from September 7-10 for the G20 summit scheduled to be hosted in Delhi for 2 days. Xi is likely to skip the summit, though Chinese Premier Li Qiang is expected to represent Beijing at the meeting.
