Apple is gearing up for its highly-anticipated annual event, famously dubbed the Wanderlust event, scheduled for September 12. This grand occasion promises exciting reveals, including the iPhone 15 and new Apple Watch models. Apple is gearing up to introduce two new additions to its Apple Watch family this year: the Series 9, available in the familiar 41 mm and 45 mm sizes, and the Ultra 2, maintaining its existing 49 mm size. While these upcoming models are expected to maintain the design aesthetics of their predecessors, a major Apple Watch redesign is reportedly in the works for 2024.

According to Bloomberg, a standout feature in these upcoming models is the introduction of a new, speedier processor chip. Apple has utilized the same processor across all Apple Watch models since the Series 6. This upgrade promises improved overall performance, ensuring smoother and more efficient operations.

However, the enhancements don't end with the new chip. Sources have hinted at various sensor improvements and internal component upgrades across all the new models. Notably, an upgraded heart rate sensor is expected offering greater precision and accuracy compared to its predecessor. This advancement could significantly enhance the watch's health and fitness tracking capabilities, delivering more reliable data to users.

Another significant addition is the U2 chip, which will be featured in both the Series 9 and Ultra 2. This updated ultra-wideband chip is set to enhance the "Find My" functionality, potentially increasing the accuracy of location tracking. Reports even suggest that this chip will find its way into the iPhone 15, hinting at broader integration of this technology within the Apple ecosystem.

For those eyeing the Apple Watch Ultra, there's an exciting development on the horizon—an all-black version will join the original grey option. This aligns with Apple's practice of offering consistent color choices across its product lineup. Interestingly, the iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to sport a new titanium frame, possibly hinting at coordinated color options between these flagship devices.
Series 9 and Ultra 2 promise improved performance, upgraded sensors, and broader connectivity options, making them highly anticipated additions to Apple's wearable family.
