At-home treatment tips for Dengue

Dengue is caused by the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms include high fever, headache, body aches, nausea, rash, belly pain, vomiting, bleeding from the nose or gums, and extreme fatigue.

While there is no cure for Dengue, experts have shared tips to manage the symptoms of the disease.

Dr Tushar Tayal from CK Birla Hospital told IndiaToday.in that hydration is key. "Ensure that the patient consumes 4-5 litres of liquids every day," he said.

Pulmonologist Dr Neetu Jain from PSRI Hospital told IndiaToday.in that resording to self-treatment and indigenous medications can cause stomach bleeding.

Stay away from homemade kaadas or even papaya leaf juice which can cause vomiting and loose stools.

Say no to papaya leaf juice

Eat throughout the day even if you don't feel like it. "In case you feel nauseous or feel like throwing up, then consult a doctor immediately so that you can be hydrated via IV fluids," said Dr Jain.

Most women might experience prolonged menstruation. Hydration during this time could be the key measure to help you recover.
